![]() The last two years the whole world has been facing the economic problems. In Mexico we’ve also experienced the economic problems mainly coming from the United States. Also Mexico has been facing another problem since 2006. The drug violence and the war on drugs from the president Felipe Calderon had led to a lot of victims. People feel insecure because of this. Mainly these problems occur in the north of Mexico in the states of Sinaloa, Coahuila, Chihuahua and Nuevo Leon. These are Border States where drug cartels fight for the passages and routes to move their drugs to the United States. 95% of all victims are drug related: fights between drug cartels or between cartels and the army/police and assassinations between members of rivaling drug cartels. Civilian casualties are not very common, nevertheless they do exist. How about Colima in all of this? DICE and Amiguito are the first to announce if it’s not safe anymore in Colima. Colima is still one of the peaceful states of Colima, where usually not much happens. There have been some incidents, but not more than a medium large city in Europe. We can’t guarantee a 100% safety, but where is that possible in the world? We do however feel and guarantee that the safety factor is more than acceptable for foreigners to live in Colima. It’s safer in Colima than in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco or any other tourist destination in Mexico. How about that economic crisis? That would be a good reason to safe your money and not go to Mexico right? We understand that, so that’s why we offer very affordable prices. We can do this because DICE and Amiguito don’t have employees and merely work with volunteers. We don’t have a big office building, neither a secretary. We just do it ourselves and to maintain our families, we work in other places down here in Colima. Also another factor of choosing for some time as a volunteer or internship is that this could be your only chance in your life. After your study you probably find a job… start working… get a house… pay mortgage… start a family and you’ll have no time to do the thing you always wanted to do: live in a foreign, exotic country for a part of your life. Maybe if you read this, it’s possible NOW… and not later… Finances? Well, Colima City is not very touristic and life pretty cheap. You’ll pay a third of what you pay in a European country, so that’s a third of your expenses a week or month you have in your city or village. Staying here for 4 months you’ll save around 2/3 of what you spend and you can use this to pay for your ticket… that way you could say you’ll have your ticket almost for free! Let us say you pay in Europe around 300 euro per month (probably more). In Colima you can do the same (food, going out, buying clothes etc) for only 100 euro per month (or less), so you'll save up to 200 euro per month. If you stay for 4 months that is 800 euro, which is around the same you'll need to pay for your travel to Mexico. You’ll pay around 10 euro per day to us and that includes: accommodations (rent, water, light, internet), supervision and guidance, intensive spanish course and most importantly the possibility to live in an exotic, interesting country and an unforgettable experience. More information you'll find at the "costs" page and you will also find examples of similar organizations that ask a lot more for the same service. |
